Bullet Train in INDIA - Dream or reality
It is a well-known fact that the Railways is a sick unit. While it often earns a surplus from operations, this has never been enough for additional projects like new trains and services. The railway minister spent a good amount of time during his budget speech reiterating this point. “Passenger fares were kept lower than costs, thus causing loss in the passenger train operations. This loss kept on increasing from 10 paise per passenger kilometer in 2000-01 to 23 paise in 2012-13, as the passenger fares were kept low always,” the railway minister said in his budget speech.
The Indian railway is the biggest network, and not easy to manage. This is true. Why new bullet trains, when the tracks are not not suited for it. We should have great maintenance gang then alone one can think of fast trains. As it is now, we have 'Flying rani exp'. But very important matter is, stopping the railway accidents. We have several new plans, but none of them will be implemented, maintenance is absolutely nil. Railway Toilets smell awfully bad, whole compartment stinks, no cleanliness, no security guards, the Ticket collectors never enter the compartment, and so many unauthorised commuters, sit where ever they want, and even on top berths, which has to be stopped.
